Samsung Galaxy F55: A New Benchmark in Design, Display, and Performance

Samsung has recently launched a new smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy F55. This is Samsung’s first smartphone in a while where you will notice many significant changes. It seems that Samsung has decided to compete aggressively in the mid-segment market. However, Samsung is not late in making these changes. In today’s review, we will determine whether the Galaxy F55 smartphone is worth buying or not.

Design

Looking at the Samsung Galaxy F55, it appears that Samsung has made a substantial change, especially in terms of design. Samsung has introduced a new vegan leather design for this smartphone. Additionally, the edges of the phone are presented in a golden color. On the back, Samsung has maintained its signature button-style cutouts for the three cameras and also included flash support. The right side houses the volume buttons, the power button, and at the bottom, there is a speaker along with a Type-C charging port. The SIM tray is available on the left side. The front features a punch-hole camera cutout. Overall, Samsung has made significant changes in terms of design, which I really appreciate.

Display

The phone features a 6.7-inch Full HD Plus display with a Super AMOLED Plus screen. This ensures vibrant colors. The phone supports a 120Hz refresh rate and offers peak brightness of 1000 nits. Compared to other smartphones, the Galaxy F55 stands out in terms of display quality. The phone delivers amazing colors, enhancing your photos and videos, and provides a great experience while watching videos.

In-hand Feel

The phone’s leather finish provides a good grip, preventing it from slipping out of your hand. The leather finish also gives the phone a premium look. It weighs 180 grams and has a thickness of 7.8mm, making it comfortable to hold for extended periods during gaming. The phone also supports an in-display fingerprint sensor.

Camera

Regarding the camera, the Galaxy F55 smartphone features a 50MP main camera with OIS support and an aperture size of f/1.8. Additionally, it has a 5MP ultra-wide camera and a 2MP depth sensor. The front of the phone boasts a 50MP camera. Typically, Samsung has offered a 32MP selfie camera at the price point of Rs 30,000, but this time the company has upgraded to a 50MP front camera, which is a welcome change. The portrait mode clicks excellent bokeh-style photos with good depth, allowing you to capture camera-like photos. The phone includes various options such as Food, Panorama, Micro, Super Slow Motion, Slow Motion, Hyper Lapse, Dual Recording, and Single Take. You can record UHD video at 30fps. Overall, the Galaxy F55 becomes an excellent camera phone for Rs 30,000.

Performance

In terms of performance, the phone is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 mobile chipset based on 4nm technology, along with Adreno 644 GPU support. This chipset comes with 12 GB RAM and 256 GB storage, with support for a 1TB micro SD card. The phone is suitable for daily tasks and light gaming. However, there could have been some improvements in terms of the chipset, especially at the Rs 30,000 price point. The phone runs on Android 14-based Samsung One UI 6.1. It comes with 8 and 12 GB RAM options and 128 GB and 256 GB storage variants, along with hybrid dual SIM support. The best part is that the phone comes with four years of software updates and five years of security updates with Knox security. It also features Dolby Atmos-based stereo speaker support, 5G standalone and non-standalone bands, Bluetooth 5.3, and NFC support. With an IP67 rating for water and dust resistance, it is a future-ready smartphone.

Battery

The phone is powered by a 5000mAh battery, which easily lasts a full day. It supports 45W fast charging, an improvement over the previous 25W charging. However, the company should consider offering 67W or 100W fast charging, as the increased use of phones today leads to quicker battery drain.

Our Verdict

The phone’s starting price is around Rs 25,000, while the top variant costs around Rs 30,000. For a price range of Rs 25,000 to Rs 30,000, the phone is quite good, as Samsung offers a better display and camera experience compared to other smartphones in this price range. If you enjoy watching videos, clicking photos, and making videos on your phone, the Samsung Galaxy F55 becomes a great option for you with its excellent design.
